For a summer trip, with a lot of trekking at high level and base level, we have brought the following things in addition to the normal everyday clothing

  • Sleeping bag (only if you sleep in a refuge)

  • Swiss knife (if you know how to use it)

  • Imodium /enterogermina (we did not use them, hygiene standards are high, we had no problems)
  • Anti-bite (FUNDAMENTAL, some areas of New Zealand are infested)

  • Nimesulide (if you use it in Italy)
  • Tampons (if needed)
  • Medicine against sea-sickness (personally I did not need it, the Wellington crossing was not easy as also the boat tour in Abel Tasman)
