Route description
We depart fromn mount Spagnolo refuge (the building on the picture is a forest guards building close to the actul refuge, opened for our visit but usually closed). We walk between magma deserts and green woods.
All along the path there are many forks, both descending orascending. We leave the wood and go inside another magma desert, with a beautiful landscape showing old craters on mount Etna.
after more then 9km ascending path, we get the Mount Scavo refuge, one of the few we found opened and barely equipped with some tables and benches, but no more. If you have been in the Alps, with their full equipped refuges... forget them :-)
Next step will lead us to the Mount Palestro refuge
