The Fantails Falls
are a small waterfall on the SH6 street between Wanaka and Haast. They could deserve a stop more for their history than for the waterfall itself. These falls played an important role in providing electric energy required to build the SH6 street. It is on the Fantails Creek, a stream whose name comes from and endemic bird of New Zealand.
