The Fantails Falls are a small waterfall on the SH6 street between Wanaka and Haast. They could deserve a stop more for their history than for the waterfall itself. These falls played an important role in providing electric energy required to build the SH6 street. It is on the Fantails Creek, a stream whose name comes from and endemic bird of New Zealand.
Short description: leave the car in the parking area , read the history on the information sign and than walk on the short path leading to the river and then to the Fantails Falls
