Route description
The Wilkies Pools are some "tiny" lavic ravines, digged by a stream on the lava stone flowing on the Taranaki mount slopes. More info about the Taranaki mount can be found here can be found here.
It is possible to reach the Pools both from the Dawson Falls Visitors Center (easiest path) and from the Stratford Plateau (our choice).
Short description: The gpx track starts from the Wilkies Pools, in summer season the water flow is very weak. The path rise crossing the forest covering all the Taranaki mount in this area. In just 2 km and 150 meters of difference in height we come back at the Stratford Plateau.
