Route description
The Sofeh (or Soffeh) Mountain Park is the place where the inhabitants of Isfahan go to try to escape the smog of the city.
It is a very well-kept place, with flowers, trees, statues and many trails leading to the top at all levels of difficulty.
We climbed up a path I could define at EE level on Italian classification (which means "for expert hikers"), since ropes were present in some sections and we passed through a vertical hole in the rocks.
The path name we have walked on should be Marashi Tanurè. We climbed with a group of Iranian mountain club, a wonderful experience. We got to the top and than we stayed on a place al sit togheter to eat something, sing together ... very nice. One of the best moment of our trip to Iran.
The descent took place for a different route, observing the panorama at sunset. Here are also the ruins of ancient fortifications built at the highest point of the area.
For those who do not want to walk on foot through challenging routes, there are also walks on comfortable trails and, most important, there is a cable car.
