Route description
Leirhnjukur, the "mud peak", is an active volcano on the Krafla caldera. Last eruption was in 1984. The path is quite easy, the rain is a bit annoying but it shows has a nice rainbow. The area is full of fumaroles, sulfur springs and steaming craters.
The path goes inside the Krafla caldera, but the rain forces us to close the ring route at the first chance. The return path goes along the 1984 lava flow, still black in contrast with the green of the grass.
