Route description
The "Zappinazzu" is the biggest pine tree currently placed on Etna. In order to get there it, go to Linguaglossa (a small town placed on Etna hills) and follow the Mareneve road leading to Piano Provenzana ski runs. A few km before Piano Provenzano, you'll notice on the left a sign indicating the big tree. Following the trail for a few meters we'll quickly reach the tree base, with another sign describing it : the estimated age is 300 years old and the height is more than 30 meters. The positiond of the tree inside the wood make it difficult to take just one picture of it. Observing carefully the tree, you can notice on the base some resin drops with wonderful colors.
