We are in Wales, inside the Brecon Beacons National Park, 60 km north of Cardiff, close to Ystradfellte village. There are more then ten waterfalls inside the park and 4-5 well tracked trails that allow to visit all of them in a day. Due to lack of time, we focus on the most famous waterfalls in the park: Sgwd yr Eira. It is on the red trail, which goes through 4 waterfalls on a 9 km walk. We left the car into the park and start the walk Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: start the walk. We are impressed by some trees covered by emerald green musk Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: emerald green musk, quite similar to trees we found on Etna in Cat's Cave walk. The path is very well indicated, it is not possible to get lost. The first three waterfalls are on the Mellte river:
-Sgwd Clun-gwyn Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: Sgwd Clun-gwyn
-Sgwd y Pannwr Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: Sgwd y Pannwr
-Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn
The last one, the most famous, is on the Hepste river: Sgwd yr Eira Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: Sgwd yr Eira.
It his possible to walk behind it. Due to this Sgwd yr Eira is also called "the courtain waterfall". After the last waterfall, we walked on the return trip, surrounded by beautiful trees Waterfalls country, Brecon Beacons national park: beautiful trees.
The path is quite easy, but there are a few section walking on the mud, so it would be better to have at least trekking (or water proof) shoes. We were really impressed from the water noise, which could be heard not only close to waterfalls, but everywhere into the park, that is crossed by a lot of water flows. If you'll ever go in Wales, it will worth to spend a day into the park
