A nice path in the Stelvio Park, whose main targets are the Corvo lakes , at about 2450 meters ASL.
Park the car at Cavallar area , in the Rabbi Valley. If you want to drive on the dirt road to shorten the trail, you must ask permission in the Rabbi village or you use one of the shuttles that leave from Rabbi villeage on specific days, they can bring you to the malga Caldesa Bassa, saving a big part of the ascent. Departure should be from the tourist office of San Bernardo. In any case, check the presence of these shuttles, as seasonal services may vary from year to year.
You could go uphill along the dirt road, but we prefer the wood although the step ascent. The track mainly rises along a stream, flowers and butterflies are widespread. At about 2000 meter ASL there is the malga Caldesa bassa , which sells typical products (we did not understand if is possible to have also lunch). Here the woods become less dense , the landscape widen to the valley . A steady climb leads us to the Corvo - Stella Alpina refuge , just 10 minutes walk from the first Corvo lake and the second lake , much bigger and more panoramic than the first.
From here you can return to the starting point for the same road or arrange for crossings mountains to other shelters, stay at the Stella Alpina hut, etc.
