Route description
Nice hike on the SAT 233 path leading from the Baita Velon, in Vermiglio, to the Denza refuge and the adjacent lakes.
The path climbs up into the woods starting from a parking area next to the Baita Velon. It quickly overcomes a difference in altitude of about 550 meters to the fort Pozzi Alti. The fort can also be reached by car, driving on the old military road. Of course, pay attention to holes and stones on the dirt road.
From the Pozzi Alti area it is possible to reach the Denza refuge following either the 233 or the 234 SAT trail, directions are very clear. Since we have climbed from the bottom of the valley, we go for the shortest route: SAT 233.
The path proceeds throught a little tunnel, scenic views on the Sole Valley, tiny waterfalls and flowers, leading to the Rifugio Denza, on the wonderful Presanella natural scenario.
Next to the refuge there is the Lake Denza, nice to see but not suitable for a stop due to its rocky shores.
