"I had heard about the stupendous iridescence of the aurora upon the Ionian Sea, when you contemplate it from Etna's summit...The earthly and marine vastness revealed to our sight stretched as far as Africa, clearly visible, and Greece, as far as you could have guessed. It was one of the supreme moments of my life. Nothing was missing, not the golden fringe of a cloud, nor the eagles..."

Citelli - Concazze - Serracozzo

E-mail Print PDF

The track begins at Citelli shelter. Go back on the road for a few meters, then you'll find the starting point on the left. The first section of the path is the same of "Serracozzo Cave" and "Concazze" trail, described on cave and trail sections. Go towards 1928 lava flow, cross it until you reach mount "Frumento delle Concazze". From this point, you cross back the lava flow at a higher altitude and try to reach the "Serracozzo" cave coming form the higher part of the valley.

The section from Mount "Frumento" and the cave was quite demanding, due to some snow still present among the rocks, so we strongly advice to do this path ONLY WITHOUT SNOW on the path.
